John Frieda Styling Tools by Conair Holiday Event

As a long time user of Conair Tools and John Frieda hair products, I was very excited to hear that the two haircare powerhouses came together to create a new line of hair styling tools. John Frieda® hair styling tools collection initially launched the first half of 2011 and included a series of hair dryers, straighteners, and styling tools that offer state-of-the art technologies. John Frieda Styling and Conair recently held a Winter Wonderland Holiday event at Celsius Bryant Park where they treated guests to complimentary hair styling, festive treats and a preview of the latest styling tools from the John Frieda for Conair Collection.

As guests waited to get amazing hair, they were kept warm by hot beverages provided by Cuisinart and deliciously hot popcorn from Waring Pro

The event was also a chance to unveil a one-of-a kind tree (with the most innovative star) adorned with John Frieda Styling Tools by Conair! After the event, all tools were donated to Safe Horizon to help support victims of domestic violence.

The tree was custom-decorated by designer, Erin Gates, top interior stylist and writer of the blog, Elements of Style. It was a great and successful event that both men and women enjoyed. Hopefully it becomes an annual one. Enjoy more photos below

Let Somme Institute Give Your Skin a BOOST

My favorite thing to get (besides free shoes) is a facial. And during stressful times or the cold winter months, it is essential to fight back damaging elements with a facial. Of course not all of us can just run out to a spa but luckily you can heal your skin at home. The Somme Institute has introduced a new addition to their wonderful 5-Step Regimen – the Boost Gentle Warming Mask.

The faint scent reminded me of fall dessert and after reading that it contains pumpkin enzymes, I quickly saw the appeal. Pumpkin is rich In Vitamins A, C, and Zinc; it soothes, moisturizes and acts as a carrier, assisting the other mask’s ingredients to absorb deeper into the skin and intensifying the results. I realized one major perk of using Boost, as the weather gets colder, I always noticed that I immediately felt the temperature on my face only a few minutes of being exposed to the elements. Hundreds of natural hair lovers packed the Millesime Lounge at The Carlton Hotel in New York City for Curly Nikki’s first NYC meetup. In the midst of all the lovely curlies was lot’s of picture taking and even some styling. Mizani Team member, Toni Jackson-Garcia showed off a new Mizani styling tool called Lacers. These cool little thingys let you achieve defined curls/waves easily, weather your hair is straightened or naturally textured. They’re soft and comfortable too. These are supposed to be available from Mizani, although they seemed to not be available on their website currently. I smell an investigation coming on!

I was a fan of Mizani products when I was relaxed and they are steadily convincing me to try the True Textures line on my natural locks now. I was so inspired by the products and styles I saw there, I rocked big, blow-dried, braidout hair the very next week!

Pat McGrath for LeSportsac 2011 and Covergirl Collection Party

The legendary Pat McGrath, makeup artist for P & G Beauty (which owns Covergirl), has once again collaborated with LeSportsac to create an 8-piece pro cosmetic bag collection. We were one of the lucky few who got to attend the Pat McGrath for LeSportsac 2011 and Covergirl Collection Party. She is legendary and the most influential editorial and celebrity makeup artist in the known world.

The premier collection, which debuted last year, featured two makeup bags inspired by CoverGirl LashBlast Length Mascara. The 2011 collection is inspired lips, specifically by the CoverGirl LipPerfection lip color collection, and features new exclusive designs and shades from LeSportsac that coordinate perfectly.

The collection ranged from the small Kiss Case to the large Professional Carry All Tote that’s large enough to hold several other pieces from the Pat McGrath for LeSportsac 2011 collection which makes for easy travel. Though we did not get to interview Ms. McGrath at the launch event, she sweetly posed for a photo.

The Covergirl beauty team was also on hand to offer makeup touchups and beauty tips to all who wanted to experience their great colors in all categories – lips, cheeks, and eyes.

Guests also got to enjoy some yummy treats (a sweet tooth’s heaven), a fantastic view of New York City and deliciously refreshing cocktails. It was the perfect backdrop to celebrate this wonderful, limited edition collection.

Two days ago I announced Solange Knowles, Selita Ebanks and Cassie would be at Sephora to celebrate the launch of Carol’s Daughter new haircare collection – Monoi Haircare. See the announcement HERE. The front and interior of the 34th Street Sephora was incredibly packed when the ladies hit the red carpet as fans scrambled to catch a glimpse of the ladies and first-hand look at the new Monoi Haircare Collection placed in stand-alone kiosks featuring photos of the Spokesbeauties. We were lucky enough to have access to inside the beauty retailer to capture the kiosks photos, but all the action was outside as the ladies  took photos in front of their Monoi Haircare Collection posters
