All That! The Nickelodeon X LoveTribe Collection at Macy’s

Hey 90’s kids and 90’s kids at heart, are you ready for some nostalgia? LoveTribe and Nickelodeon have teamed up for a throwback-themed fashion collection featuring all of your favorite Nick characters from the 90’s, created just for Macy’s. Were you a fan of Hey Arnold!, The Rugrats, Clarissa Explains It All, The Ren & Stimpy Show, All That, or SpongeBob SquarePants? The Nickelodeon X LoveTribe Collection help you indulge in reliving your childhood.

The new Nickelodeon X LoveTribe Collection brings back classic favorites from Nickelodeon with sixteen trendy and nostalgic pieces, offering a retro style for the fashionable young women of today. Expect bold colors, iconic Nickelodeon tv show one-liners, and everyone’s favorite characters from the Nickelodeon X LoveTribe collection. The collection includes tees, sweatshirts, and dresses featuring slogans such as “Trust Me, I’m a Rugrat,” featuring Chucky Finster from Rugrats, and “Haters Gonna Hate,” featuring Arnold from Hey Arnold!. One of our favorite pieces is the Nickelodeon X Love Tribe Juniors’ Rugrats Hoodie Dress, a hooded sweatshirt dress with Angelica Pickles and the slogan “I Do A Thing Called – What I Want”. Along with getting their hands on pieces from the exclusive collection and limited edition gift with purchases, guest also had the opportunity to meet and snap a photo with characters from Hey Arnold and The Rugrats.

The event also featured complimentary frozen yogurt (froyo), and candy bars, a DJ that kept us moving with some of our favorites and hottest 90’s hits, and lots of 90’s-themed giveaways and swag bags.

We’re so in awe of these stunning bags and its high-tech recyclable material!!! Mother’s Day Exclusive: Vera Bradley Supports Win, Women in Need w/ Limited Edition Tote

During NYFW the Shows, we took a brief break from the hectic runways shows to check out the latest fashion venture at Macy’s.  In what we see as the logical step from being a part of NBC’s reality competition series “Fashion Star”, the retail giant welcomes Macy’s X Nineteenth Amendment, a shopping portal to discover emerging fashion from tomorrow’s next big designers. We attended the NAxMacys digital trunk show, which highlighted four hot emerging designers, Anjé, Helen Castillo (Project Runway Season 12 and Project Runway All-Stars Season 4), Jovan O’Connor, and Kréyol (more on each designer below), at their flagship location in Herald Square.

  1. Jovan O’Connor’s collection is inspired by the 2016 Summer Olympics being held in Brazil. “I was inspired to draw from the music, culture, food, diversity, scenery, landscape, and beauty of this marvelous country.”
  2. Kréyol’s “Coming to Afrika” Collection “pays homage to the first ever recorded queen, Neithhotep. This collection represents the royal, warrior-like nature of a woman disguised as a classic, feminine, statuesque creature.”
  3.  Helen Castillo’s collection is inspired by the “interior design of the 70’s and work by Yves Klein, taking graphic minimalist imagery and creating silhouettes away from the body that does not constrict or ‘forbid’ from movement. Free spirited, without restriction.”
  4. Anjé’s NYC-made capsule collection was inspired by architecture, primarily the skyscraper, which is the building form most closely associated with New York City.

Macy’s Bar III Winter 2011 Preview

Bar III, Macy’s newest impulse brand, presented their Winter collection with a party atmosphere which perfectly fit its trendy, edgy, youthful and colorful pieces that oozes personality. One thing I love about this playful collection is the ability of the pieces to be interchangeable with each other and in this economy, complimentary and multi-use pieces are key.


Like in previous previews, Bar III acquired the help of three bloggers – Bunny Bisous, Chicmuse Muse and You Have Broken the Internet – to add their individual style and taste to the winter presentation.

One major addition to the Bar III this season is the introduction of a jewelry and accessory collection. Like the clothing, the jewelry are statement pieces, bold, edgy, glam – definitely conversation pieces. My favorite is this beaded mesh-ish vintage-inspired bag – a wonderfully feminie bag that looks like it was plucked right out of your grandmother’s closet

While this collection is full of great pieces, I think the jewelry will be the standout sellers. I can see several of the other pieces featured below flying off Macy’s racks.

Macy’s Debuts New Private Label – BAR III

Retail giant, Macy’s has introduced a new private label called Bar III and celebrated with a launch event at the chic New Museum. Unlike most launches where stylists put looks together, Bar III used Bloggers from the following notable blogs – Karla’s Closet, Because I’m Addicted, The Style Blogger, Fashion Toast, Sea of Shoes, Feels Like White Lightning and Street Etiquette to style the lookbook, the event’s looks and the live models using mostly their own shoes and accessories.

Bar III is an exciting contemporary collection of womenswear and menswear that is youthful, on-trend and very wallet-friendly. I had a chance to speak with Mia Kumajai, Product Assistant at Macy’s Merchandising Group about Bar III and the event in general. See below for interview

While perusing through what Bar III has to offer for the summer, naturally I did a few mental shopping for myself. I not only imagined these pieces in my closet but on my body at different social events. My favorite look was this adorable lace short set. I know most people think there’s a limit to the amount of lace so it doesn’t start looking like you robbed your grandmother’s doily collection but Bar III does it very right with this look.

Macy’s will debut the Bar III collection pop-up shop starting February 10th at  156 Fifth Ave at 20th St. Of course I concentrate mainly on the womenswear in the above photos but as mentioned, this is a womens and mens line. You guys will be very to know that the inexpensive Bar III suits can be tailored to your body for free if you purchase it at the pop-up shop. One thing I particularly love about Bar III is the detailing on their pieces – the lace shoulder on my favorite look above to the quilted shoulder on the mens jacket below.

 

For those of you worried that you might not make the pop-up shop, don’t fret. Once the pop-up shop closes on March 6th, Bar III will be available at Macy’s flagship shops across the country. Happy Shopping
