Cocktail Alternatives to St. Paddy’s Day Whiskey and Beer Drinks

BACARDÍ Refresco Superior

2 parts BACARDÍ Superior
.75 parts ginger syrup
1 part lime juice
.25 parts St-Germain
4 cilantro leaves
Shake all ingredients vigorously with plenty of ice, double strain into a highball glass filled with ice. Garnish with lime wheel and fresh cilantro.

Camarena Spicy Jalapeno Margarita


2 parts Camarena Silver Tequila
¾  part Simple Syrup / Agave Nectar
¾  part Lime Juice
½  part Triple Sec
Add ingredients into a shaker filled with ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a glass filled with ice. Garnish with lime wedge and fresh sliced jalapenos.

Corazon De Melon

3 parts fresh cantaloupe juice
2 parts Havana Club Añejo Blanco Rum
1 part simple syrup
1 part maraschino cherry juice
½ part fresh lime juice
Optional – Dash of Orange Bitters
For cantaloupe juice: Blend 2 cups cubed cantaloupe melon in a blender until pureed and smooth. Strain the mixture through a mesh strainer.
Combine the rum, cantaloupe juice, syrup, cherry juice and lime juice in a shaker filled with ice. Shake for 30 seconds then pour into a frosted glass. Garnish with a wedge of lime and a melon ball.

The NEO Fleur

1½ parts Facundo Neo Rum
¾ parts Hibiscus Syrup
½ parts Cucumber juice
¾ parts Fresh Lime Juice
½ parts Martini Bianco
Add all ingredients to cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously. Serve in a chilled Champagne glass, and garnish with an elegant cucumber twist.

Gingered Apple Sparkler

1.5 oz. handcrafted Vodka
1.5 oz. sour apple liqueur
Splash of Angostura Bitters
4 oz. chilled
1 maraschino cherry
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the vodka, liqueur, and bitters; shake well. Strain into an ice-filled highball glass. Top with Brooklyn Crafted and the cherry.

Sparkling Mint Mojito

5 oz Sparkling Ice Lemon Lime
1 ½ oz White Rum
6 Mint leaves lightly muddled
Splash of lime
Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake and pour into a chilled tall glass. Garnish with a lime slice.

Ginger Sage Cocktail

SERVINGS: 8-10

1 bottle of Santa Margherita Prosecco Superiore DOCG
Simple Syrup
1 cup honey
3 cups of water
2 whole pears, peeled, cored and diced
1 large piece of ginger, peeled and diced
20 fresh sage leaves (plus more for garnish)
In a saucepan combine the honey and water over medium heat and bring to a light boil. Turn the heat down to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the honey has dissolved completely. Add the pears, ginger and sage leaves. Simmer, stirring occasionally until the mixture has reduced by 1/3 (about 15-20 minutes). Remove from heat and let the mixture steep for an additional 10 minutes. Strain the syrup into a large canning jar or thick glass bowl. Discard the ginger and sage leaves.

Place a few pieces of the cooked pear into each stemless wine glass followed by 2 tbsp of the simple syrup. Add Santa Margherita Prosecco Superiore DOCG and serve.

In New York, we saw Chef JJ Johnson’s Caribbean/American South concept Gibson + Luce become O’Johnson’s (see above photos). The O’Johnson’s menu included Crispy Irish Potato Cake with Eggplant Curry, Guinness Braised Jerk Chicken Wings, and a Corned Beef Smash Burger. Cocktails included The Shaking Shamrock and Pot of Gold.

In Los Angeles, Santa Monica’s Mexican standby Gilbert’s El Indio will become O’Gilbert’s; the refined Indian eatery O’Bombay’s will showcase Irish stout and curry mashups; Malibu’s beachfront beauty Gladstones will become O’Gladstones, and Hollywood’s old-timey cocktail lounge Spare Room will be O’Spare Room.

Chicago’s Mexican restaurant by day, nightclub by night spot El Hefe will transform into O’Hefe; Bub City’s Country Western Honky Tonk will become O’Bub’s, and BIG Bar at the Hyatt Regency will become O’BIG’s.

Boston will play host to a never before seen tropical Irish hybrid with O’Tiki Rock; the classic Southern dive Loretta’s Last Call will become O’Loretta’s, and Menetomy’s patriotic tavern will become O’Menotomy’s.

Enjoy these St. Patrick’s Day Cocktails from Milagro Tequila

Why you may assume all St. Patrick’s Day cocktails are typically made with Whiskey, we’re seeing more and more crossover with different spirits. Today we’re sharing St. Patrick’s Day cocktails from Milagro Tequila. We know what you’re thinking, “Irish cocktails made with a Mexican spirit?”  Yes, and they are delicious! Milagro’s National Ambassador, Jaime Salas, has crafted some great St. Patrick’s Day inspired cocktails that will make you dance an Irish jig and probably shout, “kiss me, I’m Irish”, even though these libations are not made with traditional Irish spirits.

Today we present three curated cocktails. One cocktail whose name means shamrock in Spanish and is the perfect alternative to whiskey this St. Patrick’s Day! A tangy margarita that is a perfect drink to help get you Irish stepping on the dance floor! and a round of spicy shots that will make you feel like you have the luck of the Irish.

Del Campo Cocktail

1 ½ parts Milagro silver
½ part lime juice
¾ part celery juice
½ nopal (optional)
1 part pineapple juice
½ part cilantro or parsley
Chicharron Salt Garnish
With a half lime, rinse around the rim of a rocks glass and salt with Chicharron salt. Separately, combine all ingredients and shake well. Strain and mix over fresh ice into the salt-rimmed glass.

El Vocho Cocktail

4 parts Milagro Reposado
2 part Pineapple juice (tinned)
10 mint leaves
10 cilantro leaves
1 small jalapeno slice
In four shooter glasses, pour Milagro Reposado neat, Blend all other ingredients together. Strain and pour into four separate shooter glasses.

Trebol Cocktail

2 parts Milagro Silver
1 slice tomatillo
1 part lime juice
4 cucumber slices
1 pinch cilantro
1 slice jalapeno
1 pinch salt
Blend all ingredients without ice. Shake and strain into a tall glass with ice. Garnish with cucumber.
