Valentine’s Day is just about a month away — and some of us might expect a beautiful bouquet for the occasion, as 37% of flowers purchased are given as gifts. Now that Loewe, a Spanish luxury fashion house, has finally debuted its much-anticipated capsule collection based on the beloved animated film My Neighbor Totoro, the world may seem just a little bit brighter. That said, you’ll need to save up if you expect to splurge on one of these pieces.

A Japanese animated film with a cult following, My Neighbor Totoro tells the story of two sisters who relocate with their father to the countryside in order to care for their ailing mother. After wandering into the forest, the sisters befriend some local spirits — including Totoro, a large creature (resembling a cat or rabbit, depending on who you ask) who helps the girls and goes on adventures with them. The film is easily one of Studio Ghibli’s most famous, as Totoro acts as the studio’s mascot, though films like Spirited Away and Howl’s Magic Castle have also seen widespread acclaim. While art therapy has been around since the 1940s, Studio Ghibli has been delighting audiences since the mid-1980s. And for many, the studio’s films have brought a sense of comfort during difficult times.

Those who are familiar with the work of Studio Ghibli or who have an eye for Japanese influence will be enchanted by the most recent capsule collection from Loewe, a fashion brand helmed by designer Jonathan Anderson.

The collection is now available on Loewe’s official website, as well as the Selfridges website and in select stores, and includes ready-to-wear garments and accessories all designed with the iconic characters in mind and featuring images plucked right from the film. There are casual sweatshirts, stylish leather bags, ethereal blouses, quirky shoes, and even biker jackets available for purchase; despite the fact that motorcycle accident fatalities reached 5,172 nationwide in 2017, many fashion-forward consumers enjoy the look of a leather jacket (even if they’ve never been on a motorcycle themselves).

Enchanting spring colors and prints were abound at the GUESS and Marciano Spring 2013 Collection Preview. There’s been a change in GUESS or rather, a revert back to what made it the iconic brand it is today. The collection features 90’s washes in sorbet colors and denim blues, astounding prints such as colorful and tonal florals, tribal, tie-dye, as well as ombre and nautical-inspired looks. Some of my favorite looks included a lot of the pastel offerings, especially the mint and salmon colored denim. While GUESS gave us the classic and playful sportswear silhouettes, Marciano continued with their more sophisticated body conscious styles.

Gossip Girl’s Eric Daman & DKNY Hosiery Launch Capsule Collection

I’m not even going to ask if there are any fans of Gossip Girl out there, that would be like asking if Saks is on 5th Ave. Well you GG Fans will be happy to hear that Gossip Girl‘s famed Costume Designer, Eric Daman, has created a Legwear Capsule Collection with DKNY Hosiery.

The collection, which launched late August, features eight styles including over-the-knee socks and fishnets. As fans of the show, this collaboration should come as no surprise as the Costume Designer has used DNKY’s legwear on the show’s stars numerous times.

Fast or Die – A 55DSL and Alex Fakso Collaboration

55DSL and contemporary street artist, Alex Fakso, have joined together to create a new photographic project titled Fast or Die, a powerful 112 page photo strip describing the world through the subways. With commuting becoming increasingly long – it is said some Americans spend more than 100 hours commuting via subway in a year – that’s more time than I spend in parks, museums, concerts, etc combined. Sad but true, the subway has become a fourth habitat for us, so I love the idea of capturing people in one of their natural habitats. This collaboration project comes to life after Fakso traveled the world for five years.

Metropolitan narratives from such places as London, the US, Russia and Japan are immortalized in 60 shots: portraits of people running, taking the subway, sleeping on docks, sneaking into tunnels. Fakso follows his subjects taking part in the action, moving along with them, following them until he manages to document instants and moments of their days, thus creating snapshots that contain stories, details and sensations.

This passion for street art and urban culture as well as being friends from childhood, brought 55DSL creative director Andrea Rosso to support Alex Fakso in this new project, together with Montana Colors which includes the above shown limited edition capsule collection of t-shirts inspired by Alex’s photography (the full capsule collection has six amazing tees). LOFT’s Summer 2011 Preview

My LOFT card has already gotten a lot of mileage on it and some this summer…. I’ll be breaking a new record, and it looks like I’ll keep on breaking records thanks to LOFT’s Summer 2011 Collection. I also think I’m going through a floral phase because all of my favorite pieces from the LOFT’s Summer 2011 Preview had floral designs or accents.

My three top favs are below. The gorgeous pencil skirt with the bold pink flowers is of course my favorite.

Looks from LOFT’s Summer 2011 collection was inspired by everything summer has to offer- the warming sun, caressing wind, refreshing sea and cooling shade. All evident in the cool blues and vibrant pinks and oranges. Though I may be goingthrough a floral phase, several other pieces caught my eye. The nautical inspired looks for example
and the various pops of color which were mixed with prints or bold colored accessories paired with muted colored looks.
And speaking of accessories, LOFT offers some great footwear for under $30 – perfect for the beach and with just about any summer outfit.
LOFT’s Summer Preview also highlighted the capsule collection with Lela Rose, who offered her take on the perfect summer dress. And again, my favorite piece? The floral print sweetheart dress
